If you’re finishing a wall or an existing opening and the look of the fire is the whole point, the Revillusion 30 with the Neutral Brick backer is the one. Pick a flat flame panel instead and you live with a fire that looks fine until someone walks up to it. What Makes It Special Most flame effects play out on a flat surface. The Revillusion’s patented effect uses a partially frosted, translucent panel, so the flames appear to rise from within the logs —and you can see clear through the fire to the brick backer behind it, the way you’d see the back of a masonry firebox . The logs aren’t molded plastic. Realogs are handcrafted from real wood , with LED lights inside that give off the slow, pulsating glow of a log that’s been burning for an hour. The fan-forced heater is rated to warm up to 1,000 square feet , and a flame-only mode lets you run the fire without the heat on a summer evening. It builds into a framed wall or an existing fireplace opening, and the electrical components are backed by a 2-year limited warranty. Possible Downsides • Neutral Brick is the only backer on this model ; the Black, Herringbone, and Weathered Concrete looks are separate units. • Installation trim kits are optional , not included with the firebox. If you want a fire that looks real in a room where gas and wood aren’t options, the Revillusion 30 is the right decision. The room it’s in becomes the room the house lives in.
