You need a fireplace that plugs in but doesn’t look like it does. If you want flames people have to look at twice before they believe they’re electric, the Revillusion 36 in Neutral Brick is the one. Pick a standard electric box and you get a flat ribbon of light behind glass; pick this one and you look through real flames to a brick back wall. What Makes It Special Most electric fireplaces put the flame on a screen at the back. The Revillusion puts it in the middle: flames rise through a partially frosted panel behind logs handcrafted from real wood , so the fire appears to come from inside the logs and you can see clear through it to the brick behind. Inner lights give the logs the pulsating glow of a real burn-down . It also does something wood and gas can’t: flame with no heat at all . Run the fire alone on a July evening for pennies, or switch on the fan-forced heater and warm up to 1,000 square feet in January. The remote adjusts the flame’s color and brightness, so the fire matches the evening instead of the other way around. Possible Downsides • Full heat output needs a dedicated 240-volt circuit wired by an electrician; on the included standard plug kit, heat output is roughly half. • Heat is fan-forced only ; there is no fan-free radiant mode. • No power, no fire —like any electric fireplace, it doesn’t run during an outage.
