You need a fireplace where the fire is the whole view . If you’re building or remodeling and want the fire to be the focal point of the room—with the freedom to hang a TV above it—this is who the Altitude X was made for. Pick a standard louvered unit instead and you’ll get the warmth, but the fire will always look like an appliance. What Makes It Special The Altitude X is a clean-face design: ceramic glass runs to the edges with the entire firebox in view , and built-in top lights keep the logs softly lit, so the fireplace looks finished even when there’s no fire in it. Every function runs from the included remote or the eFIRE app on your phone—on and off, flame height, fan speed, the lights. And if the power goes out, the fireplace still lights on battery backup —keep four AA batteries in it and an outage doesn’t take the fire with it. Where the heat goes is up to you. The optional Dynamic Heat Control system lowers wall temperatures without a fan, so a TV can hang directly above the fireplace at Napoleon’s lowest clearances, and ducted options can carry the warmth to another room or even outdoors. Possible Downsides • The log set and interior panels are required selections sold separately from the base unit, so plan for both when you compare. • Heat management is optional, not built in —reduced clearances for a TV above need the Dynamic Heat Control add-on. • Battery backup needs its own batteries —four AAs or a power bank, not included. If you want the fire itself—not the frame around it—to be the thing people notice when they walk in, the Altitude X is the right decision. The room it’s in becomes the room the house lives in. The look is yours to set: birch, driftwood, or oak log sets; interior panels from black illusion glass and reflective porcelain to Westminster and Newport brick; black or charcoal finishing trims; and Zen or Whitney decorative fronts.
